# Subscription Swapped **Subscription Swapped** automation events are only available for [Subscription Automation](https://university.spiffy.co/automation/subscription-automation.md) and are most commonly used to automate actions around a subscription upgrade or downgrade. You can setup these events to trigger an internal notification, apply/remove tags in your CRM or marketing automation tool, or any other integration action that you need. There are two separate events available: - [Subscription Swapped From](#subscription-swapped-from) - [Subscription Swapped To](#subscription-swapped-to) ## **_Subscription Swapped From_** The _Subscription Swapped From_ event will trigger when a customer’s subscription is changed FROM one plan/product to another. Use this event to run automation on a subscription to revoke access or remove tags when a customer is removed from that specific subscription plan/product. ## **_Subscription Swapped To_** The _Subscription Swapped To_ event will trigger when a customer’s subscription is changed TO one plan/product from another. Use this event to run automation on a subscription to grant access or add tags when a customer is added to that specific subscription plan/product. NOTE: If you need different actions to run on each Subscription Plan for _Subscription Swapped From_ versus _Subscription Swapped To_, each Plan will need to be put into separate Subscription Options.
