Refunded Payment

Our Refunded Payment events make it possible to automatically trigger actions in your CRM, LMS, or other connected apps when you process a refund in Spiffy.

There are two different types of refunded payment events:

Account-Level Automation Events

Payment Refunded (All Payments)

This account-level event will trigger based on any refunded payment and will trigger the same action for all refunded payments. You can find this event under your account-level billing automation settings.

Need to trigger different actions when refunding Payment Plans vs. Subscriptions?
Skip the Payment Refunded (All Payments) event, and instead use both account-level events for Payment Plan Payment Refunded and Subscription Payment Refunded to trigger different events for Payment Plans vs Subscriptions.

Payment Plan Payment Refunded

This account-level event will trigger based on any refunded payment on Payment Plans only. You can find this event under your account-level billing automation settings.

Important: If you setup actions for both account-level events: Payment Refunded (All Payments) and Payment Plan Payment Refunded, both will run when a payment plan payment is refunded.

Subscription Payment Refunded

This account-level event will trigger based on any refunded payment on Subscriptions only, and will trigger for ALL subscription products. This event is not unique to individual subscription products or plans, the same event will run for all refunded subscription payments across all subscription products. You can find this event under your account-level billing automation settings.

Important: If you setup actions for both account-level events: Payment Refunded (All Payments) and Subscription Payment Refunded, both will run when a subscription payment is refunded.

Need to trigger different actions when refunding individual subscription products?
Skip the account-level event for Subscription Payment Refunded and instead use the subscription level automation Payment Refunded (Subscription-Specific) to trigger different events for one subscription vs another subscription.

Subscription-Level Automation Events

Payment Refunded (Subscription-Specific)

This subscription-level event will trigger when a payment is refunded on a specific subscription plan. Subscription-level automations are set up in the Subscription Group settings and will run for all plans added to the subscription group.

Important: If you also setup actions for account-level events: Payment Refunded (All Payments) and Subscription Payment Refunded, in addition to subscription-level events, ALL events will run when a subscription payment is refunded.

Pro Tip: Start with general refund automation at the account-level, and get more advanced with your setup as needed.
