Connecting an AI app to Spiffy takes just a few minutes. Once connected, you can ask questions about your business, analyze your data, automate tasks, and perform actions using natural language.
Before You Begin
Before connecting an AI app, make sure:
- You have access to the Spiffy account you want to connect
- Your AI app supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
- You’re signed in to both Spiffy and your AI app
Connect an AI App
- In Spiffy, click on AI / MCP in the left navigation menu
- Select the AI app you want to connect
- Follow the connection instructions displayed in Spiffy
- Complete the authorization process in your AI app
- Once connected, ask your AI a simple question to verify everything is working
Your AI can now securely access your Spiffy account based on your user permissions.
You can connect multiple AI apps to the same Spiffy account if you’d like to use different tools for different workflows.
Managing Connections
Use your MCP Settings to view connected AI apps, change which Spiffy accounts an AI app can access, disconnect an AI app, or connect additional AI apps.
Disconnect an AI app
If you no longer want an AI app to have access to your Spiffy account, you can disconnect it at any time.
- In your MCP Settings, find the AI app you want to disconnect
- Click View
- Click Settings
- Click Disconnect App
Reauthorize an AI app
Occasionally, your AI app may need you to reauthorize its connection to Spiffy if your authorization expires or is revoked, permissions change, or authentication credentials need to be refreshed. Reauthorizing restores the connection and gives the AI app the permissions it needs to access your Spiffy data.
Reauthorizing the connection must be done from inside your AI app settings. Steps will vary depending on the AI app being used.
For ChatGPT:
- Inside ChatGPT, select Plugins
- On the list of installed plugins, select Spiffy
- Click the three dots (…) and select Manage
- In the pop up, click the three dots (…) and select Reconnect
- Choose which Spiffy account(s) to share with ChatGPT
- Select Connect App
For Claude:
- Inside Claude, go to Settings > Connectors
- Find Spiffy in the list and click Connect
- Choose which Spiffy account(s) to share with Claude
- Select Connect App
After reauthorization, you might see the same AI app connected twice in your Spiffy MCP Settings. To remove the older connection from the list, simply follow the steps above to disconnect it.
Troubleshooting
My AI can’t connect
Verify that your AI app supports MCP and that you’ve completed the authorization steps shown in Spiffy.
My AI can’t access my data
This could be caused by either of the following:
- Try reauthorizing the connection from inside the settings for your specific AI app.
- AI apps only have access to the Spiffy accounts and data your user role allows. If you’re missing data or unable to perform certain actions, check your account permissions.
My connection stopped working
Disconnect the app and complete the connection process again.
